At CONSCHES we try to work with natural and sustainable fabrics as much as we can and two of our favorite materials are TENCEL™ and Cotton.

What is TENCEL™?
Tencel or Lyocell is a type of cellulosic fiber that is derived from the wood pulp of eucalyptus trees. It is a versatile and eco-friendly cellulosic fiber that offers many benefits. Its softness, absorbency, and durability make it a comfortable and practical choice for garments.

What is organic GOTS-certified Cotton?
We try to work with organic GOTS-certified Cotton whenever we can.
Organic certified cotton, also known as Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified cotton, is a type of cotton that is grown and processed according to strict environmental and social standards. These standards ensure that the cotton is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers, and that the farmers and workers involved in the production process are treated fairly and paid a living wage.


When it comes to caring for our wonderful pieces it’s important to note that the less you wash an item, the better because one third of the environmental impact of your clothing comes from washing and maintaining it.

We recommend sticking to Stella McCartneys rule of thumb: “(..)if you don’t absolutely have to clean anything, don’t clean it.”

Washing your clothing too often contributes to shrinkage or deformation of the fabric, decoloration or overall fading of the colors. 

However… when it is time to clean and wash your beautiful pieces, here are some practical tips to keep them looking like on the first day! But remember, always make sure to read the care label on each item individually.

Care guide:

• Preferably handwash pieces or machine wash at low temperature (max. 30°C)
• Always use the wool or delicate cycle
• Use sustainable laundry detergent
• Turn the pieces inside out before washing
• Hang dry the items
• Get rid of wrinkles by steaming

For TENCEL™ it’s recommended to hand-wash the item or wash with low temperatures (max. 30°C) using a wool wash or delicate cycle with gentle laundry detergent on your washing machine. Always turn the piece inside out before putting it in the laundry.
Don’t tumble dry clothing made from TENCEL™ and rather hang dry them.
To revive the pieces after washing you can use a steamer to get rid of any wrinkles and soften the fabric.
If you don’t have a steamer, you can use the iron on the steam-setting or low temperature and hoover over the piece instead of pressing the iron down.
To store TENCEL™ correctly remember: the stretchier the item the better it is store it folded.

Best practice with Cotton pieces is to wash them inside out in cold water or with low temperatures (max. 30°C) which helps to reduce shrinkage and keeps the colors from fading.
Avoid tumble drying as this will deform the items, rather hang them to dry. We recommend you shake out the items while still damp to help remove wrinkles and keep the shape of the pieces. If needed you can iron at low to medium heat.

Follow these guidelines to ensure a long life for your CONSCHES pieces!
